Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer may have tied the knot before they'd known each other for a full year, but they don't feel like they rushed into anything. During an appearance on The View on Friday to promote her new film I Feel Pretty, Schumer explained how deciding to marry Fischer after just a few months of dating was actually a very rational, thoughtful decision.

"You know that I'm not, like, a fool. I'm not impulsive like that," Schumer clarified, per People. "We have known each other for about a year now and we'd been living together already for six months." She added, "So, you know, it's not a long courtship but it's not like we had a great weekend in Vegas and threw in the towel."

Schumer went on to share that she had promised herself she wouldn't marry anyone who wasn't the exact right person-and then Fischer, a James Beard Award-winning chef, came along. "I was ready to not get married. I was like, 'I'm 36. I love my family, my friends, my work.' I was like, 'I'll die alone. I don't care,'" she said. "I'm not going to settle. I don't want to settle." Luckily, she didn't have to: "I met The One," she said.

Once they decided to get married, though, it was full steam ahead. Last week, during an interview on Howard Stern's radio show, the comedian described how she and Fischer planned their whole wedding in just three or four days after he popped the question-while she was half-asleep and still wearing her ear plugs and eye mask, no less. The pair texted their closest friends and family "I'm getting married on Tuesday. I hope you can come," then said "I do" at a star-studded ceremony in Malibu on the day before Valentine's Day. And it's been smooth sailing ever since. "You're in, you're done. He's mine, I'm his. We've partnered up, we've committed to be partners for life, and we meant it," Schumer told Stern.
